'My Book Of Spells' Gift Box

I saw this gift box on Helen's fab. Blog It's All Fiddle Fart

and knew I wanted to make one. I set about sourcing the hands, could not find any at my local poundland but luckily Tesco's had them. You get 1 pair of hands and 1 pair of feet, no idea what I am going to do with the feet!,no where as good value as the pound shop but at least I had a hand to get cracking on the gift box. I worked out some measurements - silly me has forgotten to jot them down! - and then set about assembling the book. To secure the hand I punched two tiny holes, corresponding to where there are 2 small type pegs under the hand, used loads of silicone glue to secure, under the hand and behind on the pegs then added a piece of card to hold all in place. I used basic grey mini magnets for the closure, couldn't lay my hands on the velcro I had put by for the project, it had disappeared into some black hole, so the magnets did the job just fine. I have used 'Charmed' font for the wording. I did so enjoy chalking onto the black card. I used a combination of purple, white, mustard and brown. Added a few gems, flourishes and I was done. The gift box was for Christmas, so that my youngest DD could put in some scary sweeties for her older sister Lil, strange gift I know for Christmas, but there was a running theme of all things scary for Lil, she so loves anything scary, so as you can imagine the book of spells was well received.

'Feeling the Blues'

What an amazing Journey it has been following the Bah Humbug Challenge Blog 'Feeling the Blues' final challenge
I am prety pleased I have managed to reach my goal of managing all of the weekly challenges. A huge thank you to the 'Team' at Bah Humbug :-) Your all amazing :-)
I am afraid I am going to have to post and run - I have a very poorly daddy - he has had a nasty fall while away in Brighton, attending a huge church event. Got dad back home yesterday, Doc. came today and wanted him hospital but dad is not all keen, so ...  She has left all the necessary meds. and I need to stay over/be with him to administer tabs. etc. If things do not improve there will be no question of him not going  he will HAVE to go Hosp. He will also, once Temp. is down he will be going to have an xray on his arm.  Anyway, enough of my woes - here is my card.

Here is the 1st of the 20 Christmas Cards I have been asked to make for a friend.




I just love this stamp from 'Whiff of Joy' Lizie With Muff
I do think she looks so pretty dressed in 'Lilac' Although I do think I should
of done her jacket in a coordinating colour rather then all Lilac



I recently purchased one of Tim Holtz's On The Edge Dies - 'Ornate' not quite got to grips yet as to how to really use.



I have used Polar White Flower Soft for Lizzies hand muff, neck warmer
and her cute ear muffs



In this instance I made it up as I went along! I embossed some bazzill basics white card with swiss dot CB folder and once I made the edge cut I snipped it off at each end then placed underneath the other swiss dots embossed layer. I 'swished' some Pretty Petunia 'VersaMagic' over the embossing, added

some glitter to the 'on the edge'diecut, obviously did all this before assembling each layer.

I have so much enjoyed taking part every week in all of the challenges set. What an amazing journey it has been. I also very much appreciate all the hard work Ann, Irene and Max put into the challenges as well as all the other stuff they do towards running the blog.  The blog owners are truly wonderful, in every sense of the word. I will certainly be taking part in the Bah Humbug weekly challenges beginning 2011.

HandMade Buttons - Makin Clay

I was inspired to make some buttons after seeing a feature in this months 'Craft Stamper' Dec. Issue Craft Stamper

 I havn't used Kars Makin Clay before so wasn't sure what to expect as to ease of use etc. Thankfully, It wasn't too difficult. Once rolled out I Rubber stamped images onto this then used some small cutters to make the 'buttons' Once air dried (approx 24hrs) I coloured the buttons using Perfect Pearls, metallic rub-on. I have left 2 of them 'naked' To seal I used a cheap hair spray and allowed to dry. I made the button cards, I wanted to have something 'bold' hence the vivid colours, I have also have overstamped using versamark and then brushing over with perfect pearls to soften it a little then attached to the card. I have made the buttons as a gift for a crafty friend - I will certainly be having a go with these again.

I was inspired by Rachel's lovely make of her 'seasonal' box that I just had to have a go myself.
Here is another one of Rachel's fab. 'seasonal' boxes Another 'Seasonal' Box

The most difficult part has been sourcing the chocolates! I finally came across them in my local pound shop. There are 2 'trays' of chocolates in each box.  In theory (if you don't succumb to sampling the second tray) you can make 2 gifts (excl. the materials etc. for the box) for  a mere 50p each.



Comes supplied with 2 'trays' of chocolates


Here is my finished box.

Once I worked out the dimensions of the box it was very quick to make. I used my Cricut to cut a snowflake, added some Brilliance inks and then sprinkled with glamour dust. To package up I will finish off with a tag and tie round some sheer blue ribbon. 

I need to write the dimensions down as a reminder - I worked it all out then forgot to jot it down for when I make more boxes. Brain like a sieve you know!

Money Gift Wallets - Part 2

Here are the remaining three Money Gift Wallets that My likkle Sis. asked me to make for her. They are now with her.

I did though make the mistake on the first one by using a too wide DS tape on the edges, as if anything bigger than a £10.00 note, it will not fit unless folded.

Remembrance Sunday - Poppies

A dear friend of my mum's sadly died last October, she was such a lovely lady, and so, so kind and always put others before herself. We very much miss her. She devoted many yrs. to the British Leigion. As today is Remembrance Sunday I thought I would post something poingnant and appropiate.
