CHNC 17 - A Touch of Easter For Christmas

Another week and another fab. challenge  over at Hazel's Christmas Blog
CHNC 17 - A Touch of Easter For Christmas

Hazels says

I'd like you to bring a touch of Easter into your Christmas crafting. Yellow is a colour we associate with Easter and, of course, it's a time of year when eggs feature (oh yum, I know that I'm getting a Hotel Chocolat dark choc egg) and, of course, eggs are oval in shape. So I'd like you to use either the colour yellow - little or a lot (you can use other colours as well, as long as yellow is visible) and/or an oval shape on your card.

I have gone for using 'Yellow' I had planned making a distressed ink background and adding likkle cute Hero Arts RS Angel images but then I had remembered I had some Artoz Crea Motions (Winter)  papers that would fit the challenge perfectly. Just love the cute likkle penguins. All or most of the papers are deeply embossed or heavily glittered and some have such a pretty sheen, like that if you had heat embossed a RS image. The paper/light card really is of such excellent quality. I have used some of the 'border' type images that feature in full A4 Page within the pad.
I have used a DL sized card for the base. The lace is a recent bargain from my local Emmaus, two large part reels of 2 differing widths bought for a couple of pounds.

DL Sized Base Card
Silver Mirror Card

Bah Humbug Challenge 16 - Santa Claus or Father Christmas

Over at Bah Humbug their challenge this week asks that we make a card or project incorporating The Great Man Himself.

I immediately knew that I wanted to make a card for my dear Norwegian friend, Kari. Here you will find more info. on The Norwegian Santa Claus "Julenisse"

The image used I have had for sometime so was very pleased to be able to put it to use. I seem to remember it came as a freebie from a blog - Sadly I cannot remember which one. I should add notes to the images such as these so I can kindly thank the person again and show what I have made using their image.

I have used an 8x8 craftworks card as my base. As you may notice 'Santa' is not in his usual Red and white attire. I did some searching of tutorials on colouring the image. I came across this fab. blog 'Handmade by Malin Me' and used their truly gorgeous card as inspiration for the colouring. The sentiment 'God Jul' is Merry Christmas in Norwegian. The lace is a recent bargain from my local Emmaus. Two part large reels of differing widths of lace for a couple of pounds. I have used some 'Glamour Dust' along the line of the ribbon and Lace. If you look very carefully you maybe just be able to see. I was unsure if to add some victorian photo corners or somthing else within the card, especially where there is a huge space within the digital image. For the moment I have decided to refrain from adding more embellishments.

A couple more Easter Cards

These two cards I made for my 2 daughters, again using some of the RS images I recently received. I have again kept them simple as I am very much a novice when it comes to making Easter Cards. I do think the likkle bunny rabbits are indeed very cute. I am hoping my colouring in improves - not much of a clue when it comes to colouring in fluffy bunnys! I picked up the likkle Hen and Chicken Run egg pots from my local Emmaus - as you can see inside is some easter goodies for my girls to enjoy.

Easter Cards

Have been for a family meal .. delicious it was too .. Here are a few Easter cards I made for family members. I am not at all good at making Easter cards but making the effort has made me feel quite good. The recipients seemed pleased to receive. You will note, two of them are very similar, the only difference is the ribbon, not the colour obviously. I am just thrilled the Cross die cuts I bought from ebay on Thurs. arrived safely on the door mat early this morning. I bought them from a lovely lady called Sheilagh, her shop has some lovely die cuts, different from the norm. Cannot believe how quicky they arrived, considering I ordered 2 beads from what seems to be a fairly new online bead store last Sat. and yet they have not arrived. Please excuse the Pic. I took it ever so quickly as we needed to be at the meal.

Bah Humbug Challenge 15 - Christmas Stockings

How time if flying past. We are on Challenge 15 over at Bah Humbug  This weeks challenge,  'Christmas Stockings' There certainly seems to have been some actvity going over at Humbug Hall ... made me giggle indeed.
I wasn't quite sure how I was going to put together a card for their challenge as I wanted it also to fit in with CHNC Challenge 16 - Sing Song  I searched for some clipart that might fit both challenges, and came up with an image of Santa falling, strike that, coming down the chimney, he does look a bit worse for wear doesn't he, Poor Santa, anyway back to the song, which features in Happy Holiday / The Holiday Season (Medley) From The film "Holiday Inn" (1942)

As the holly berries are 'black' I had to do somthing to make them standout a bit more with colour, so came up with adding gems.

Bah Humbug Challenge 14 - Candy Cane - CHNC - Circles

Over at Bah Humbug the theme for this weeks challenge is 'Candy Canes'  I was raring to go, in fact I planned to make 2 projects for the challenge. I started by making a card on Friday evening then I was going to do my second make, a Christmas Hot Chocolate gift pack, using the dame digi image but that had to be put to one side as I said I would help make some bunting for a Royal Wedding street party.

I wasn't 100% happy with the finished card, it was lacking something, after a bit of searching for inspiration I remembered seeing how other crafters have used lace and punched borders to add extra interest to their cards.
Once I had added several additions of lace and punched edging I was a little happier with my finished card. With the 'waste' from the victorian photo corners I atteched around the nestie circle.

I am so pleased as my card also fits perfectly in with the 'Going round in Circles' challenge theme over at CHNC

CHNC 14 - Christmas Foliage and/Or Flowers

Another Fab. Challenge has been set over at CHNC 'Christmas Foilage and/Or Flowers' The Meery Christmas 'Simples' card I made for Bah Humbug maybe would not have fitted in with the challenge, as the foliage wasn't 'Chrsitmas' and it didn't contain a flower, so I decided I would have a go with cutting some elements out from poinsettia paper by the English Paper Co. and add it to the Poinsettia nesties and see what I could come up with - cutting elements from patterned paper is not something I have tried before, so thought it an ideal opportunity to have a go.  I have placed the Poinsettia petals and leaf elements underneath the poinsettia nesties the central element of the Poinsettia  is postioned on the top of the nesties. I hope you think it works well. It certainly has filled the nesties out quite well I think. I will add a Christmas Sentiment Later as wasn't quite sure what I wanted to add, so thought best left until I am more sure.

Bah Humbug Challenge 13 - Cards that Make you Giggle

Oh My .. the DT cards over at Bah Humbug have certainly made me giggle out loud.

I wasn't sure at 1st what I was going to do for this weeks challenge, as I am not someone who can really pull of 'humerous type cards' as I am never sure how to put together. But then I remembered a 'Christmas Simples' digi image I had that might make you giggle
beautifully created by Sandra Dry Very Sadly Sandra no longer produces Digi Images.

I cannot get the colouring right for this cute Meerkat. He is meant to be lighter in colour on the botton half of his face and darker around the eyes etc. More practice I think. I have made a computer generated sentiment
Meery Christmas 'Simples' Meery as in 'Meer'Kat
