Prima Scrapbook Kit Class

On Saturday I went with a couple of my Camera Club friends to a Prima Scrapbook Kit Class at my local craft store 'Its Crafting Time' The class was taken by 'Jackie Payne' We had the most enjoyable day. I have not attempted a 2 page scrapbook page before. As you will see from my pic. I did not quite understand the concept! But all the same I am pleased with what I created. I used my pics. taken of the hanging baskets at my local pub and that of a pretty view through a gate at some local alm houses. I am very proud that the hanging basket pic. was used as the cover for our camera club DVD as well on the DVD we made last yr. to help raise funds. The DVD was of local scenes within our village that camera club members took.
I have not used Prima papers before. Wow .. they are indeed so pretty. The main elements within the pages are cut with a Cricut Expression using the fab. 'Paper Lace Cartridge' .. I have the basic Cricut machine so getting to use this lovely machine was fab. Nearby the Cricut was a Big Shot Pro, not seen one in the flesh before .. OMG, its huge!

Most did 'their own thing' me and another lady had not finsihed our pages from the morning so we continued with that.
Val and Maureen (Camera Club Friends) are the ladies on the left of the pic. Val was scrapping pics. from her recent 7 week tour of the USA and Mairan (Pronounced Maureen) used very pretty pics of flowers.

Camera Club - Scrapbook Class

I belong to my local tenants Assoc. camera club. I am very much enjoying been with such nice,  friendly and talented people. I have learnt so much and so much more enjoy my camera, one of the members kindly set up my camera which made such a difference. We had a busy time last yr. fund raising, producing a DVD of photographs of our village, producing CD clocks using members photos and making bespoke clocks using the clients own photographs, also we made lots of greetings cards using members photos. We have even done a wedding, the clients got to hear of our club and asked if we would do their wedding pics. 2 of our talented members went to do the wedding and by all accounts it was a success and the couple were very happy with their photos/DVD.
We had our first meeting of the yr. today January 7th, and I was asked just before Christmas if I would like to do a scrapbooking class. I was indeed very nervous but was very much looking forward to introduciing scrapbooking to the members. There was 9 of us at todays class. A dear lady called Sue .. a fellow crafter and a total angel indeed .. lent me her notes/12x12 scrapbook page template. I created the 12x12 template from the original template Doc. Sue kindly sent over so members had something 'tangiable' to follow

I took along some books, mainly about creating 'mini books' a few scrapbooking mags. some finished work along also, one being my circle journal. Camera Club members took a lot of inspiration from this. I started with a brief talk using Sue's notes and then showed members the template and then it was 'off' they were a very keen bunch and not at all phased, even though none of the members had never really scrapbooked before. It was so amazing on seeing the finished pages. Members took on their own take of the original template - some ooozing with such confidence - it was truly lovely to see. One particular lady picked up a scallop punch, not having ever seen one before so was curious as to how it worked - I showed her and wow .. she just experimented and created the most beautiful church - you will see the scallops in the roof and on the opening of the other church - sheer genius! This same lady bought some Chrsitmas cards she wanted to 'scrap' as it was relavant to her theme of her 1st Christmas in her new flat.

I had the most lovely text from a member saying thankyou for the class and how it had opened up forgotten memories of her mother and her scrapbooking. How lovely is that. I have been asked if I would like to deliver another class - It really was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.
This was our only chap, the other gentleman was off poorly. This chap so enjoyed his time scrapbooking, he said he was amazed at how much engrossed he got with it all and intends on carrying on doing more scrapbooking at home .. as I said, it was just a lovely afternoon with such lovely people who embraced and just got on and did their own thing ..

I was truly thrilled to receive such a nice Thank you, especially knowing that the lady concerned
cares for her elderly mother, hearing that she was able to escape in such a nice way was truly wonderful to hear.



I so loved the story behind this chaps page, he has so cleverly
placed the main 'feature' photo in the centre, Barry said the page
was all about him and his wifes Christmas Day together.

Gosh, how soon the crafty goodies take over the whole table!



The story behind this page is that the lady who
created it was telling her story of her Christmas
with her 'adopted' Granddaughter as her own Granddaughter and family live all
the way over in Cyprus so was unable to be with them. This was the same lady that  texted me to
say 'thank you' for the class and how it had opened up forgtten memories of her Mother's scrapbooking.
How lovely is that.



Notelet Cards

I have recently made some Notelets cards. These will be added to the camera club cards to help raise funds. I have since lined the 4x4 notelets. I will be packaing them with either a RS paper band or plain raffia.
The pictures used I have taken myself. Next time round I will be embossing the base card, makes all the difference, especially so with photgraphs.

Camera Club Cards

Not much skill in constructing the cards but thought I would show you what I have been making on behalf of the camera club I belong to, to  help raise funds. I have made around 80 or so cards - made over the past few days. I finally finished last night, in readiness for a camera club meet today to package up and label etc. We have a sale in our local church in November. I have just learnt how to emboss onto card using nesties so thought would use on the cards to accenuate the pictures a little more. The photos are taken by a number of camera club members. I am hoping to get time to make some 'notelets' also to sell. We have produced a DVD of our pictures taken since the club started this yr. it is pictures of a 'tour' of our village. We have already sold a good number, we will also have them to sell on our stall, as well as some fabulous CD clocks, photographs are printed onto CDs they are truly wonderful and selling very well also. We owe many thanks to our club organizer and her DH for all their hard work with the tech side of all that went into producing the DVD and the making of the clocks. We are raising money in the hope we can produce a calender next yr. of pics. of our village taken by camera club members.

 My favourite has to be the likkle mushrooms, love the detail. Sorry for the dark pic. IRL it is bright and totally stunning. The person who took the pic. said she placed a background using black card before taking the pic. It really works well and the detail is fabulous! Well done Val :-) The mushrooms were found in her mum's garden.

It has been great fun going round getting the pictures. Thankfully I havn't had the task of resizing/printing etc. I am indeed very pleased with how the embossing has set off the pics. so well. The great thing about doing pics. on cards is that the pictures speak for themselves, so very little needs doing, can can suit many occasions. All the cards have been left 'blank' and labeled as such.
