Altered Painted Jar

After seeing several tutorials in recent crafting magazines I decided to have a go with 'altering' a plain clear glass jar. Firstly by swirling acrylic paint on the inside of the jar .. Like this Painted Mason Jar
The inspiration for wanting to have a go was this Beautiful Creation ... I decided I wanted to feature the 'Captured Fairy' on a tag rather than on the inside of the jar ..

Items Used

Clean Glass Jar.
Acrylic Paint ( I used Americana as that is what I had to hand)

CHNC 22 - Use Some Ribbon - Bah Humbug - Surprise! Surprise!!

I paid a visit to Beccy's Place quite recently. Such a lovely blog. Becky has put together an A-Z of Folded Cards
I've decided to put together a list of different card folding techniques, and then slowly work through the list to produce instructions and examples on how to go about making each card. I've come up with a pretty good list of cards so far, but I need your help in finishing it off. If you can think of other types of folds that aren't mentioned below, please let me know and I'll add them. I'm not looking for techniques, such as embossing or stamping, but actual folds or types of cards. Let's see what we can put together!
Beccy's technique class from the list is Accordian Cards I just love her finished card, the fuchsia digital image is just so pretty. I decided that the card would be totally perfect for Hazel's Challenge 22 'Use Some Ribbon'

I am also entering my card in for the  Bah Humbug Challenge 21 'Surprise! Surprise!! I have decided to go with option 1 of 'Surprise us' (Select my own theme') The theme being 'Funky Folds'

Oh My .. it is Claire's birthday on Weds. (tomorrow) as usual she is pretty excited. Believe it or not .. I am organized. Card is made. Gifts are made. I am just waiting on Jodi Picoult's new book to arrive Sing You Home  - Last yr. for her b'day Claire met Jodi Picoult in person, she attended a book tour in Ely. Fingers crossed the book arrives tomorrow - if not I will have to do an IOU
Just need to wrap her gifts and make a gift certificate - it was meant to be coming in the post but last minute hitches with  her b'day gift of a 1 days basket making course at the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket has gone pear shaped - a bit of a long story but in short the course, which was meant to be happening May 7th, has had to be postponed until July.

Bah Humbug Challenge 17 - Pleats and Ruffles

Wow .. Another fab. challenge has been set over at Bah Humbug
Challenge seventeen is to create a Christmas project that features 'Pleats and Ruffles' I had to do a bit of searching of google for inspiration and tutorials on either pleats or ruffles - as not really done a lot of either within cardmaking.
Came across a nice tutorial for making

Layered Ruffled Ribbon

This is my finished card. As you may notice I have a rather bit more on my card than the tutorial showed - of which I think is so elegant and pretty with it, mine is most definately not 'less is more' My apologies about the pic. Was struggling with light as well as camera!

My card also fits in nicely with Hazels Christmas Challenge over at
CHNC Challenge 18 asks that you 'Use a Die-Cut'I got a bit carried away and used more than one ..

Here is my entry for this weeks challenge over at Bah Humbug  The Christmas trees feature on the papers as well using a Christmas Tree Charm.

My card also fits very nicely in with Hazels 13th challenge Make a Square Card

I have made a 'tent card using this fab. tutorial  Until I came across it I had not heard of this type of card. I will most definately be using it again on future projects. I was trying to add other elements around the aperture but it didn't look right, so decided it was best left .. such a simple card to make.

Bah Humbug - Guest Designer week 3 - Christmas Crackers -

Time seems to be passing by so quickly - its Bah Humbug Day, week 3 of my guest design spot, this weeks theme is a real cracker ..
I have very much been enjoying my guest spot. I really cannot thank the ladies at Bah Humbug for asking me, it has been such a joy making the projects. I will be continuing with the guest designer spot for the month of February ..Am so glad I can be of help. Thinking both of Max and Irene {Hugs}
Here are my offerings for this weeks fabulous challenge - Christmas Crackers - I have made a card, using a Elzybells RS image. I have also made a Christmas Cracker, one that does not need a 'snap' I made it following this fabulous tutorial for a Christmas Cracker
I guess the 'cracker' type gift box can be used any time of the yr. You just need to adopt the style/theme to the occasion .... It really is an incredibly easy make. You could just have one opening at the top and make it a 'milk' carton type gift box too. You could also add an acetate window, Lots of possibilites IMHO.. Compared to the 'tutorial' pics mine does look somwhat different on the 'ends' I think maybe the 'added' cardstock was too heavy, but overall I am pleased with results.

Money Gift Wallets - Part 2

Here are the remaining three Money Gift Wallets that My likkle Sis. asked me to make for her. They are now with her.
I used This tutorial for the inspiration - Reindeer and Christmas Pud. wallet.
I did though make the mistake on the first one by using a too wide DS tape on the edges, as if anything bigger than a £10.00 note, it will not fit unless folded.

I used this tutorial for inspiration

Faux Suede Flower

I am posting this because I want to pass the info. of the technique over to Helen at
It's All Fiddle Fart  I will add the link to my comment on her blog.
Helen has made a beautiful poppy card for her mum, she then goes onto say

If there was a crafting tool I would like to buy that I don’t think has been invented yet, it would be a “crumpler” – I love the crumpled look, but I’m not sure how to do it properly, I end up screwing things up into a ball over and over again but often risk the paper getting torn ….. come on Tim Holtz invent something for me – I am a damsel who needs to distress!

Anyway, on we go

A dear crafty friend, Kath really is such a talented crafter and a very kind and generous lady too, used this tutorial to make her beautiful carnations. The tutorial shows you also how to achieve a faux suede effect. Ruffled Carnation Tutorial
I used the technique to make this

I used Bazzill Basics card - I have so far found it the best for ease of
seperating the layers of card as shown in the tutorial

Helen mentions the risk of tearing when screwing the paper/card into a ball, IMHO if this happens, especially so
with the 'faux suede effect' on seperating the layers, it, for me, adds a little more interest to the finished item.

On this flower I added ink to the 'faux suede' layers of the flower to added interest
