A lady who lives within my mum's complex turns 70 on Sat. She is a huge character and certainly has attitude .. She has my mum in stitches with her antics. I have made this card for her .. Maybe not your usual 70th B'day type card but this lady is not your usual 70yr. old. The Sugar Nellie Goth RS I felt ticked the boxes as to what I was wanting to achieve. Goes quite nicely with the sentiment It's all about 'Attitude' Age is just a number.

CHNC 19 - Photo Inspiration
This weeks challenge over at Crafty Hazelnut's Challenge Blog is to draw inspiration from this Photo
Here is my take on this fab. challenge
I have used the tag elements from within a 12x12 English Paper Co. I layered these onto the red kraft card.
I used 'red brick' distress inks to 'distress' the edges of the papers, tags and nesties as well as colouring the sheer ribbon, of which was originally white.
List of Supplies
6x6 Base Card
Brown Stardust Card
Red Kraft Card
Red Mirror Card

I'd like you to use this photo as the inspiration to make your Christmas card. You can interpret your response in any way you wish - it might be one or more of the colours or patterns, or stockings, Santa, teddy, snowman, presents ... whatever the photo inspires you to make

Claire's Birthday
Oh My .. it is Claire's birthday on Weds. (tomorrow) as usual she is pretty excited. Believe it or not .. I am organized. Card is made. Gifts are made. I am just waiting on Jodi Picoult's new book to arrive Sing You Home - Last yr. for her b'day Claire met Jodi Picoult in person, she attended a book tour in Ely. Fingers crossed the book arrives tomorrow - if not I will have to do an IOU
Just need to wrap her gifts and make a gift certificate - it was meant to be coming in the post but last minute hitches with her b'day gift of a 1 days basket making course at the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket has gone pear shaped - a bit of a long story but in short the course, which was meant to be happening May 7th, has had to be postponed until July.
The gifts I have had a hand in creating are a Creativ Wooden key Cabinet

A Passion For Cards The tag is to accompany the Jodi Picoult Book. The added book is 'Free ClipArt' Once printed/cut out I coloured with Promarkers.
The beautiful sentiment is from Create With TLC The gorgeous 'Window Seat' Digital Image is by Maurie J Manning. I have also made a 8x8 box for the card. (Not shown)

Birthdays and Thinking of You
I have a had a few cards to make but not had a chance to blog them. The birthdays were towards the end of February and then a couple at the beginning of March. My likkle sister's birthday is on March 17th, St Patricks Day - Inspiration hasn't yet hit for this card so that is on the back burner for the moment. I decided on making quite similar cards - I was quite pleased with how the 1st one turned out so decided I would just tweek a little with the remaining 2 cards.
A friend sadly lost her Mother recently, her funeral is today. I wanted to send her a card letting her know I was thinking of her. I made this card

Box Card
I was inspired to have a go with making a box card while browsing through the latest issue of 'Craft Stamper Mag.
Craft Stamper Feb. 2011 Issue
The article states, the designer, Debbie Dolphin, was inspired by the 'tealight holder' Box Cards featured in 'blogland' I came across this beautiful blog recently featuring the tealight holder box card - I said then I would be making one and I now have .. just not added Tealights .. that is for next time round.
TeaLight Holder Box Card
The tutorial can be found here
TeaLight Box Card Tutorial
The box card featured in the Craft Stamper mag. is labeled as "A gift for him" I was needing to make something more feminine - The gift to go inside the box as featured in the Mag. article is Ferrero Rocher of which I had .. so I got cracking .. I am not really at all good at following instructions, even basic ones can flummux me at times! To say I found the tutorial hard to follow was indeed very true - I had thought I got everything right, the most important being the measurements for the box/scoring lines etc. I cannot have done so as I cannot get the Ferreo Rocher to fit in the box ..... the box is too small or the chocs too big - ever which way you look at it So I have had to rethink of which Chocs. to put in. I put in some of the chocs I used for choc. boxes. I placed the chocs in a cellophane bag and placed in the box that way. No matter that the Ferreo Rocher didn't fit the box .. I so, so enjoyed making this box card, Has taken me a couple of nights to complete. I am most definately going to be making some more - fingers crossed I can learn from my mistakes 1st time round and get the Ferrero Rocher to fit the box
This is my finished box card.

'My Book Of Spells' Gift Box
I saw this gift box on Helen's fab. Blog It's All Fiddle Fart
and knew I wanted to make one. I set about sourcing the hands, could not find any at my local poundland but luckily Tesco's had them. You get 1 pair of hands and 1 pair of feet, no idea what I am going to do with the feet!,no where as good value as the pound shop but at least I had a hand to get cracking on the gift box. I worked out some measurements - silly me has forgotten to jot them down! - and then set about assembling the book. To secure the hand I punched two tiny holes, corresponding to where there are 2 small type pegs under the hand, used loads of silicone glue to secure, under the hand and behind on the pegs then added a piece of card to hold all in place. I used basic grey mini magnets for the closure, couldn't lay my hands on the velcro I had put by for the project, it had disappeared into some black hole, so the magnets did the job just fine. I have used 'Charmed' font for the wording. I did so enjoy chalking onto the black card. I used a combination of purple, white, mustard and brown. Added a few gems, flourishes and I was done. The gift box was for Christmas, so that my youngest DD could put in some scary sweeties for her older sister Lil, strange gift I know for Christmas, but there was a running theme of all things scary for Lil, she so loves anything scary, so as you can imagine the book of spells was well received.

Lovely in Lilac
Here is the 1st of the 20 Christmas Cards I have been asked to make for a friend.
I recently purchased one of Tim Holtz's On The Edge Dies - 'Ornate' not quite got to grips yet as to how to really use.
In this instance I made it up as I went along! I embossed some bazzill basics white card with swiss dot CB folder and once I made the edge cut I snipped it off at each end then placed underneath the other swiss dots embossed layer. I 'swished' some Pretty Petunia 'VersaMagic' over the embossing, added
6x6 Base Card
Whiff of Joy 'Lizzie with Muff'
ProMarkers
Bazzill Basics Card
Patterened Paper - Papermania??
CB Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
Tim Holtz On The Edge Die
Quickutz Cookie Cutter Nesting Dies
CB Snowflake Diecuts
Marianne Designs Flourish Diecuts
Polar White Flowersoft
Lilac Sheer Ribbon
Brads
Glamour Dust
Ultra Fine Glitter
Pretty Petunia VersaMagic
I just love this stamp from 'Whiff of Joy' Lizie With Muff I do think she looks so pretty dressed in 'Lilac' Although I do think I should of done her jacket in a coordinating colour rather then all Lilac |

I am entering my card into this weeks penultimate challenge at Bah Humbug
I have so much enjoyed taking part every week in all of the challenges set. What an amazing journey it has been. I also very much appreciate all the hard work Ann, Irene and Max put into the challenges as well as all the other stuff they do towards running the blog. The blog owners are truly wonderful, in every sense of the word. I will certainly be taking part in the Bah Humbug weekly challenges beginning 2011.
